Finding herself in a contemplative mood, 'What Is It For?' is the quietly radical new single from multi-instrumentalist Donna Thompson. Appearing on a forthcoming EP with a similar title, 'What Is It For?' showcases the processing power of music, allowing Thompson's thoughts to materialise into something that's equally beautiful and meaningful. Spilling out over a collage of samples (of herself), there's a 90s hip-hop flavour present as Thompson explains: “I've been thinking about the deconstruction of traditional ideas on how my role as a female in a cis relationship has predefined expectations that often don’t align with what loving someone feels like. I can still love you if I don’t wanna wash your underwear.” Appearing alongside 'Gardner Street' and 5 other stunning tracks, the rest of What In The World?!? will be released via the consistently excellent PRAH Recordings on the 21^st of November. -Holly Mullineaux
